Rain showers and blowing sand are just a few of the environmental conditions that can pose a hazard to camera equipment. To protect my equipment from these conditions, I always pack a clean plastic garbage bag in my vest or backpack. Since I carry my camera and lens attached to the tripod, it's a simple matter of slipping the bag over the rig to protect it from damage.
