What is abstract photography? In this weeks lesson plan we will explore what is abstract photography and discuss the use of patterns and lines in composing and creating abstract images.
Week Two - Macro Abstract Photography
The “Macro World” holds countless opportunities for the photographer to explore the abstract realm. In this weeks lesson plan we will discuss equipment, essential techniques, focus, depth-of-field and practical field lessons for creating abstract macro images.
Week Three - Multiple Exposure and Panning
Multiple exposure and panning is an exciting technique that allows the photographer to create stunning abstract images that have the look and feel of an impressionistic painting. We will go over in camera and post processing techniques for combining and creating these types of images. Don’t worry if your camera does not have multiple exposure function, we will also learn how this effect can be achieved in post processing.
Week Four - Image Overlay, and Montages
In this weeks lesson plan, we will discuss the fundamental techniques for overlaying images in camera and in the computer to create a digital sandwich, or otherwise known as a slide sandwich in the days of film.
Week Five - Swipes and Zoom Blurs
Open up your mind and unleash your creative juices. In this weeks lesson, we will go over and fully explore all the possibilities of camera swipes, zoom blurs and multiple exposure zoom stacks.
Week Six - Combining Techniques for out of this World Results
Now that you have a firm understanding of the techniques taught in the last five weeks, lets look at some creative use of combining these lessons for out of this world results. Your final homework assignment will be to create a “Photo Essay” of a place, subject or concept using all six weeks lessons.
