The translucent models effectively diffuse the harsh light of a cloudless day, reducing the range of contrast to a level that the recording medium can handle. The reflector models are useful for brightening the areas in shade to reduce contrast, and to add highlights and detail to the subject. Litedisc reflector and diffuser discs can be used independently or in combination.
